It's coming around, slowly. Jack London Square has been revitalized, but I
worry that it's getting to be even more stratified and more gentrified, like
San Francisco, especially.
I lived up near Park Blvd and Highway 13, across from Piedmont, not exactly the
representative Oakland experience. The Dimond district was right around the
corner, made for quite a contrast.
I almost bought a house a block from the house I lived in for 10 years
recently, but the commute and school situation were tough to deal with. I ended
up with a comparable place in a good public school district the opposite
direction from Silicon Valley and couldn't be happier.
I do miss E. 14th Street - what a melting pot of cultures (and food!)
