-=> Steven Horn said to Greg Mayman -=> about "FTP07" on 05-07-03 21:59..... SH> Arachne is a relatively recent program -- my copy of 1.70 -- is dated SH> 2001 but it may not have been possible to test it with all the systems SH> out there. And who's to say that the server was configured properly. SH> So why worry? I expect less from DOS freeware than I do from a program SH> I paid for. Same here. But I don't expect the author to deny its deficiencies. Glenn McCorkle is currently working on the next version, and I assume will be working on other versions after that. If the software has no "faults" why is he doing that? Most people would be quite happy with a statement such as "This software isn't quite perfect, but it is free and we're still working on making it better." SH> But you got connected with Arachne and were then able to call the SH> external program. Give the spider credit for something. :-) Of course. And I do give full credit to Arachne for the fact that I can call the external client from within it! What I DO object to is the statement that when the internal functions don't work, it is "not a fault." Some of the suggested solutions implied that I would have to log off and log on again with another FTP client, as indeed I was having to do with Arachne and CuteFTP. Since this cost me an extra local phone call fee, I preferred not to go this way, especially when I needed to do offline testing, as was occasionally the case.
