What BBS did you used to dial that allowed you to route files?
I know some do allow file-attaches, but I thought it was rare.
I intend to ENHANCE Tobruk in time. If you would like to speed
up that process, feel free to send me PUBLIC DOMAIN, hopefully
portable C code that incorporates that enhancement. Until then,
I'll be doing it at my own pace. Tobruk is better for what I
am trying to achieve than what I was running before (Squish),
which is a mailprocessor, not a mailer BTW. There are several
things I wanted fixed in Squish, but I don't have the source code
to it, nor is it public domain. You want to help, that's GREAT.
You want to sit on your hands and bitch about me not having written
sufficient code to meet your high standards, I couldn't give a shit.
This BBS is for reliable mail, not files, which is why that not
being available doesn't concern me. The TIC mechanism is there
if you wish to make something publicly available. Routing files is
a very minor thing. Even before, you were only able to route stuff
to another point on the system, which only amounts to 20-odd people,
so the chances of the person you wanting to route the file to being
on this system are pretty remote. And I'm sure CAT.GIF could either
be placed in SPECIALR and then deleted later (by the person placing
it there in the first place), or simply not be sent at all. I
actually ran my system for about a year before I even found out how
to route files using my existing software. You make it sound
like you're about to commit Hurry Curry without it. Bit like
people who complain about them not broadcasting the cricket
on free-to-air TV because their poor old pensioner mother
can't afford pay-tv. We didn't even have TV 50-odd years
ago, and now when pensioners don't get live cricket piped to them
for free it's a travesty of justice? Hopefully I will eventually
have portable C code for all the stuff I use, so that I can switch
from OS/2 to Linux. There are things I don't like about OS/2
(including the way that it hangs after rebooting after a trap, and
the disk cache only being 2 meg, and the whole thing being
proprietry), and I don't have the source code to fix them either.
In the meantime, I now have the ability to fix any bugs in my
mailprocessor. Squish caused me a great deal of grief in the past,
and I haven't forgotten. BFN. Paul.
