PE> It's certainly possible. And I may even be willing to do it if it
PE> were simplified to...
PE> AfterConnect "+++~~~~AT%L%Q^M~~~~~ATO1" 20
BG> Assuming the string is variable, that should work just fine with all
BG> modems. Presumably the final "20" refers to the expected
number of logged
BG> lines?
Yep, but I had forgotten the proper syntax of Aftercall. Here is the
new syntax...
Afterconn 15 ~~+++~~~~AT*O|ATO|
PE> But would people actually want to change mailer just for that?
BG> Now that 28800 modems are becoming quite common, absolutely. Especially
BG> given the huge number of poor connects at that speed. At least an
BG> AfterConnect would log current line conditions, and save a hell of a lot of
BG> arguing over whose modem was at fault, when it was probably just shitty
BG> lines instead. A lot of interest is being shown for such a feature, I
BG> promise you.
I seriously doubt that anyone would change mailer for that.
PE> There's no EMSI with BTPE.
BG> And lots don't use it even if they have it.
But remember all the advantages?!
BG> Dave used to, but doesn't any more.
Why not? What does he use now anyway?
BG> Anyway, have fun trying to get any legal source code later than
BG> 2.50.
Yep.
PE> Probably better to wait for Binkley 2.60, which is due out any time between
PE> 2 years ago and last month.
BG> Exactly, so why wait for vaporware? Depends on how difficult it is to add
BG> an AfterConnect function to the 2.50 source, I guess.
Turns out to be reasonably straightforward, I've done minimal
null-modem testing here. I'm attaching a new BTPE executable,
don't blame me if it doesn't work as advertised, let me know what
doesn't work and I'll see if I can do something about it. Until
then I'll have to find something to do about my insomnia. I went
to bed at 6am yesterday (today actually), and woke up at 8, changed
the alarm to 9, then just got to work in time for my 10am meeting.
BFN. Paul.
P.S. Actually, I changed my mind and decided to see what it did.
