The bottom figure is what "starter homes" cost where I live. When
I was getting my
coffee this morning, there was a for-sale-by-owner ad for a house just like that.
The asking price was $369,000.

Go to realtor.com, enter Oak Park, IL, then go to the advanced search (otherwise
you'll get tons of townhomes and condos).

Go to the bottom and enter this MLS# -- 03131664

That's the least expensive Oak Park listing single family home listing at
$194,900.
It's a 2 bedroom, 1 bath,

You want 3 bedroms, 2 baths and a two car garage? Here is the MLS# of the
least expensive one -- 783417

Yep, $325K. Right in the ballpark for a new family homeowner.
