I always thought that as well, but I had a situation about 5yrs ago where a
particular DJ was bribing a security guy to unlock the equipment room, bypass
the limiters, and was toasting drivers and mono'ed Hafler DH-500's keft and
right.....
Once we figured it all out, I hard wired the limiters internally. The DJ was
not heavily repremanded (had too much of a crowd draw/offset some equipment
failure), but the security guy was history .
