PCS does NOT have more range.  It has far LESS range.  One of the design
features of it is that there have to be 'repeaters' every few blocks,
instead of every few miles like in normal cellphones.
I haven't known anyone with a true digital cellphone, but I suspect
they'll perform about the same as normal ones.  Any Public Service
agency that I know of that has used digital trunking has had problems,
and encryption is even worse in regard to range and conversion
'clarity'.
