Ah, associations help, though it does sound
kind of nice in itself. My island oasis was
on Maui on the lower slopes of Haleakala,
where some guy had a B&B with an avocado
tree out front that bore so many and so
delicious fruit that we never bothered with
the second B.

Old habits and all that. It does help if
you like leftovers.

Trust is pretty good thing, though as you
know there are a lot of people who go for
the quick buck by cutting corners, lying,
that sort of thing. Sometimes they try to
do both; once in a while they succeed.

Categories: Chocolate, Desserts
Servings: 8
8 sl Pumpernickel
- (crusts removed)
1/2 c Butter; melted
1/4 c Currants
2 c Whipping cream
1 c Milk
3 oz Semisweet chocolate
- (finely chopped)
1 oz Unsweetened chocolate
- (finely chopped)
3/4 c Sugar
9 Egg Yolks
1/4 ts Vanilla
Servings: 8
Lightly brush bread slices with melted butter. Place bread in greased 2
1/2 quart, 4-inch deep baking pan or souffle dish. Sprinkle bread with
currants and set aside.
Bring whipping cream and milk to boil in small saucepan. Remove from
heat.
Whisk in chopped chocolate until melted. Whisk together sugar, egg yolks,
and vanilla. Beat cream/chocolate mixture into egg mixture, blending
well.
Pour over bread slices and currants. Let stand 30 minutes to allow bread
to soak up liquid. Cover pan with buttered foil and place in larger pan
filled halfway with warm water. Bake at 350 degrees 45 minutes to 1
hour,
or until knife inserted in pudding comes out clean. Cool slightly. Serve
with whipped cream, if desired.
