Be that as it may, the unfortunate result is that Bob will go off to his
echo and Ceppa's echo to chat with a few people who agree with him just
as Politics and All-Politics have mainly become forums for people who
agree with each other on most things.  THIS echo was supposed to be an
opportunity for people to DISagree with each other without worrying
about a trigger-happy moderator jumping in and issuing warnings about
discussion of King Tut's military experience (as Klahn did recently in
his echo).  The rules were cut down to a bare minimum.  No responsible
moderator or sysop can allow defamatory comments about a user's
profession.  And I can not imagine any moderator except Quarrella (an
early enabler of Chirnside's problems) who would allow threats of
violence.

I guess the lesson is that as long as there are ANY rules at all,
someone can break them so that they can look pseudo-noble to their
friends by getting booted.  Sadly, fidonet moves one step closer to
irrelevance.
