I am the last man to flame anyones setup or tastes in equipment or
software. I would be the happiest man alive if I could be completely happy
with a $49 Walkman! Then I would have a CD collection the size of Yellowstone
Park. I do encourage anyone to take the time to visit someone with a good
system or a dealer with a good setup and reputation to introduce them to
"better audio". No snobbery, just better sound. I also encourage anyone
beginning an interest in Audio to attend all the live performances they can
possibly attend. That is how I began. I stumbled around for years not having
a clue of what good home audio really was. I am just now beginning to learn
some of the finer points and often feel overwhelmed by the entire subject.
There are many arguements for seperates versus integrated that cover
everything from interference, vibration, heat disipation, on and on. But
frankly all I can really offer is my standard, "go listen for yourself" line
of advice. I remember how bugged I first became when I asked some questions
here and was told to go hear for myself, along with advice as to what exactly
to listen for, etc. It was some time before I understood just how good that
advice was.

This remark is made more toungue-in-cheek than anything. It seems
almost everyone is always looking for a better way, a better tweek, a better
something.

I have nothing against these dealers. Nor are all higher priced
dealers offering better demos. But it rubs me very raw to enter one of these
places and hear someone really looking for better sound and hear the crap the
sales people fill them with.
Better they take a shot at a dealer carrying better quality gear, for
a
demo, than to be satisfied by some 16 year old salesman with a trunk flapper
mentality.
