WE used Lo-Hy rod, but I tacked a jillion of 'em with 6011.
Product liability would KILL you today.... even if the wheels all
survived falling off a mountain! Somebody sued Bendix for making the
mags when some idiot ran his Cessna out of gas in the mountains!
Properly welded, I think our 'homemade' wheels were as strong as factory
wheels. If I'd had a wirefed MIG I'd have been more comfortable.
