Yes.  Saccharin *was* taken away for awhile... (you know, until
Aspertame could be replaced in the "industry" ... I know that
sounds ugly for me to say, but that is exactly how it appeared  :)
At which time we were told that there was absolutely *nothing*
harmful about it... and it was referred to as "left-handed sugar",
in that the body would not recognize it as sugar, but it would
deliver all the "beauties" of sugar without any of the lesser
qualities.  I suppose "time" *is* a great teacher.  (And, still, we
are to believe all that "they" say   :)  Oh well.....
