My "Boss" SysOp, Kevin Snively, brought up the question of the
TWO most important "accessories" to install on a PC:
a "Back Up" device (whatever media) and,
a Virus Utility (or two).
Now I gotta learn another "gob" o' stuff re.: this Conner
"Jumbo-350". I *think* I have it down, but am not as
"comfortable" with it as I'm gonna be - soon!
My Telemate "Key-file" problem didn't *actually* require the
"restore",... just loaded the key file again. My problem,
as far as I have been able to tell, was caused by editing
the .cfg file with a text-editor to change something like
the modem's init string,... shoulda used TMINSTAL.exe, I guess;
but, at the time, it seemed like the proper way to go.
Oh! I think I remember what it was! - In an on-line session,
I had "forced" the modem to command state ("+++"), and
couldn't get it to quit incorporating the +++ in ALL my
logon scripts as part of my logon name. I *did* run
TMINSTAL.exe, but it didn't help. Poking around, I removed
it (the "+++") somewhere in TM.cfg and it worked! Only
thing wrong was, suddenly I was "Unregistered",... with
the nuisance notices & all. Re-installing the key file
took care of THAT (once I found it)!
