What kind of symbols?  I'm guessing you mean ones that don't have '.global'
on 'em...

If you're assembling your own ASM code, using '-g' will not make a whole deal
of difference; AFAIK, gcc merely calls as to assemble the code...
Try compiling C code with and without '-g' and then look at the ASM output.
