Check out _Spectrum_ by Billy Cobham. Also, some of the
stuff Bolin played on that album also ends up on
occasional Cobham anthology. Otherwise the really good
stuff is long out of print and unavailable, such as
        Alphonse Mouzon's solo album.

GE> How much Prog-Rock did Joe Walsh and/or the James Gang ever play?

Early James Gang albums delved pretty heavily into psych.

GE> And what about Marc Bolan and T-Rex? Are there any recordings of
 GE> Prog-Rock from them?

Naw, but they used a mellotron pretty heavily on _Tanx_,
amongst other albums, and were well produced when Tony
Visconti was doing the job. And Flo & Eddie from the
Mothers sang back up on "Bang a Gong." Oh, and Ian
McDonald from King Crimson played sax on that cut.

But, if by some round about way you are implying that
maybe we should try to head discussion back a little more
focused on prog, the point is taken, and we probably
should. Leading by example is always a fine way to
accomplish this, rather than kvetching. Hint hint. :-)

Right now I'm listening, on 8 track, to Synergy
_Electronic Realizations for Rock Orchestra_. Kind of
nice. Wish I had it in quad.

Just recently I managed to snag quadraphonic 8 track
copies of Pink Floyd _Atom Heart Mother_ and _Wish You
Were Here_. It brought back to me how when I saw Floyd on
the _WYWH_ tour (Cap Centre, just outside of Wash DC)
they had a quad system in the arena and it was
incredible. Perhaps one can even say this piece was
composed for quad and was meant to be heard in quad. I
only wish they had released live shows in quad. The same
goes for ELP, who had a really good quad live show, too.

Other things I'm listening to are:

Korai Orom and Vizonto, a couple of bands from Hungary.
        King Crimson - B'Boom
        Anglagard - Buried Alive
Echolyn - When Matthew Sweet Turns Sour
        Anekdoten - Nucleus
        Shylock - Gialorgues
        Naked City - Radio
Mike Keneally - Hat, Boil That Dustspeck
Pat Metheny/Lyle Mays - As Falls Wichita
Landberk - One Man Tell's Another
        Forgas - L'Oeil
        Gandalf
Onehalf - Viperflat (another obscure Hungarian band, kind
of like a cross between 801 Live and Happy Family)
Nomad - Dah (a new band from Quebec, really nice)
        Secret Oyster - Sea Son
Invisible Opera Company of Tibet - Jewel in the Lotus
        Kraan - Wiederhoren, Fly Day
Gato Barbieri - Chapter Two : Hasta Siempre
John McLaughlin - Belo Horizonte (ok but not great)
        Tony Williams Lifetime - Emergency
        Yes - Keys to Asencion
Birdsongs of the Mesozoic - Sonic Geology
        Silver Apples - Contac
        Biota - Almost Never
Holy Modal Rounders - Good Taste is Always in Fashion
Sensational Alex Harvey Band - Live
        Mike Westbrook (w/ Lindsay Cooper) - Westbrook..Rossini
Captain Beefheart - Shiny Beast (Bat Chain Puller)
Zappa - Lost Episodes (really starting to love this a
        lot)

                                Cheers,
                                Kenneth
