Ah ... we just call them "meat slicers". 

I've told my mother and daughters that I didn't think it is an
appliance intended for home use. Wood workers often do the same
things on the joiners that shave boards down to size. They are
taught to use a 'push stick' but get in a hurry and become too
comfortable with the machine I guess?
