BG> Had a local gun-shop owner on the news last night, and he BG> reckons that he's sold more self-loading rifles in the last BG> week, than he'd sold in the entire previous year. Funny that. RS> Yeah, NSW just brought in an emergency ban on sales to stop that. BG> Shows just how little thought they've really given to the problem. Interesting watching QLD deliberately choosing to have a 3 month wait till they pass the law. Also quite hilarious watching Kerry OBrien pin Borbidge to the wall on the 7:30 Report. Borbidge had said some pretty unambiguous stuff in the past about defending yourself, and Kerry rubbed his nose in that and asked him how he could reconcile that with the latest line about getting rid of guns. Hilarious |-) Borbidge has clearly just looked at the survey stuff on guns after Port Arfur and decided that he would blow in the wind as usual. Be fascinating to see if he can keep the QLD Nats in line. Specially now that Liz Cunningham that he depends on has basically come out on the gun lobby side. BG> Does wonders for Johnny's credibility too, when you consider his BG> pre-election promise of "no new taxes". Then again, the question BG> of increasing existing taxes was never raised, I suppose... He promised no existing ones would be increased too. All he can do now is fake away like mad claiming that Port Arfur was too special to count. @EOT: ---* Origin: afswlw rjfilepwq (3:711/934.2) SEEN-BY: 640/305 711/934 @PATH: 711/934 |
