Hello Phil, >>> But your problem is another, it seems your mail editor >>> don't set the right flags to the mail. > MvdV> Indeed. The InterMail 2.50 editor is buggy. > Ya know... my understanding is that the author of IM and FD > used to work together, had differences, then split. That's right. Peter Stewart and Joho had a falling out and they split up somewhere in 1990 or so. They both got the source, Joho kept the name and Peter continued under the name of InterMail. I don't know the exact date, as it happened before I entered the scene as a point in 1992. My boss node (Evert Bruinsma) was the Dutch agent for InterMail, so I got a nice "cosysop" deal for InterMail. > While IM's message editor may be buggy, I had no little or no complaints until I did a late ugrade to 2.50. The mailer is fine, but the editor is a bummer. peter really butched it up. I am very glad I didn't upgrade five years ago when I would have had to pay for it. > both Marc and I could verfify the fact that the FD editor (FM) is > one of the best out there. If you like the IM editor, you would > likely like the FD editor more. If it has the features but not the bugs, I think I will. Actually I have been using FM for a while on my second system. (OS/2). But that has been scrapped and I lost it. So I have to get a new copy somewhere. > It's not as obsolete and outdated as some would say just > because it runs in text (DOS) mode... It is actually quite > an advanced piece of work that I have yet top see matched > by some of the newer junk. DOS mode is not a probblem. On the contrary perhaps. I am lost without my resident spell checker and that only works under DOS... > Only problem I would think you might have reviewing it > however is that I believe there is a problem with the > shareware version on faster machines that cannot be patched > at present, Oops. The infamous run time error 200. :-( That's a problem. My main machine is 500 MHz. Then again I managed to patch programs that others said couln't be patched... So I should give it a try. Got a url where I can download the freeware cersion? > and only the commercial version flies like the wind. Well, I am not going to pay for a POTS mailer that I am not going to use anyway. It is just sitting there these days. I let it run as long as it does not cost me anything, but that's it. IP is the future...
