Hi Hal.
Frank is more concise and correct about creation/evolution.
But FWIW: the Bagavad Gita says that Krishna created the world in
an instant, right down to the fossils in the ground, and the ink
in the Bible; what either of them has to say is irrelevant. As to
when this happened, well that was a moment ago; and in fact, this
universe undergoes a constant state of creation.
Astronomy suggests stuff is moving farther apart; not exactly. In
the past year, a quantum mechanic realized out that space itself
is quantized, i.e. that it is not infinitly divisible, that there
is, in fact, a pixel of space. What has occurred to me, is that
these pixels are being created and added to those already here.
As a result, there is always more space between stuff.
Arjuna is told that the world he perceives is projected into the
familiar three dimensions; implying that there may be more, as I
see quantum mechanics has demonstrated. It appears that we live
on a holodeck, and when this deck was created is not relevant to
the task of living on it. My own mind is constructed so that it
looks to me like there is sufficient evidence to suggest that it
was created some 15 billion years ago; that evidence allows me a
convenient way to organize my impressions, but otherwise, has no
bearing on the questions.
If your mind is constructed to support creationism, I'm sorry.
