I follow a similar procedure. Technology can be helpful here. If
a student doesn't meet minimum competency, they must retake
test/activity. I require they do some additional practice
activity before trying the test. Then the test can be taken at
their convenience via computer. The computer stores the grade
for processing at a later date. I average the score on the first
take of the test and they highest retake score.
