BG> Quite so. I strongly suspect that the only people who surrender guns BG> will be the very ones who are probably sane (or decent) enough to own them. RS> More likely those that have ALREADY got them on a list as part of an RS> earlier set of gun laws. It will be interesting to see the relative per hea RS> rates of turned in 22 semi autos in states where they aint listed at all. BG> When I had my NSW Shooters' Licence back around 1972ish, it BG> was issued on a personal basis, with no requirement to list BG> the weapons owned, exactly the same as with my current Qld Police BG> Weapons License. Did that change in NSW since I left there? I was talking about other states than NSW and QLD, Some have got lists of the stuff now banned coz they did require the individual guns to be listed. BG> Had a local gun-shop owner on the news last night, and he BG> reckons that he's sold more self-loading rifles in the last BG> week, than he'd sold in the entire previous year. Funny that. :) Yeah, NSW just brought in an emergency ban on sales to stop that. Bet plenty goes on anyway, particularly of stuff that the gunshop isnt going to be able to flog once the new laws are in place. I still cant see how the expensive end is ever going to work. I cant see the guvmint willingly coughing up $4K class money per gun on buybacks and I cant see particularly operations like gunshops being too impressed about doing that kind of money either. Typical mindless kneejerk stuff that pollys are so prone to doing, with the detail being completely and utterly fucked up on the process. @EOT: ---* Origin: afswlw rjfilepwq (3:711/934.2) SEEN-BY: 711/934 @PATH: 711/934 |
