Remember the scene in a Woody Allen movie, Annie
Hall I think it may have been, with Marshall
McLuhan in it? (I watched it back in its first run
in the '70s when I still watched the occasional
film; I still don't fully understand that scene.)
I was chatting with my friend the Dodger at the
bar in the Hilton ORD, and some chamber of
commerce type guy sitting next had some
objection to some observation of his and
embarked on a lengthy manplanation of elementary
market factors to us, which irritated me but
entertained the Dodger, who gave no indication
of what he did for a living (got the economics
Nobel for one thing). As in one of the Sherlock
Holmes stories, the more outrageous the guy got,
the larger the grin on the expert's face got,
but no direct reply was ever made.
That's not the biggest example of that that I've
witnessed; the great one was before that movie
and might have been one of those cool eddies of
underculture that I've been a small part of that
gets into the movies; when it wanders on topic
maybe I'll recount it here. I should find a way
of documenting all those random things before
people (who are half anyway) become totally
convinced that I'm making it all up out of a
string of random delusions.

Title: Chicken Parmigiana
Categories: Italian, Chicken, rather simplistic
Servings: 4
1 pk Chicken Breasts *
1 cn ITALIAN Tomato Sauce **
2 tb Olive Oil
Mozzarella Cheese
Parmesan Cheese
2 c Flour
1/2 ts Salt
1/4 ts Pepper
* Boneless and skinless ** Contadina or Hunts Put olive oil in a hot,
heavy
skillet. Place chicken in skillet and brown for 2-3 mins on each side
(longer if chicken is thicker). After they are browned, remove them from
skillet and drain on paper towel. Pour out any excess oil in the pan
(there
shouldn't be much if any!). Pour the tomato sauce in the skillet and heat
it until it is gently bubbling. Return chicken to the pan and allow to
cook
for 2-3 mins more, turning chicken to coat well. Sprinkle mozzarella and
parmesan cheese all over the top and cover skillet. Allow this to cook
until cheese begins to melt. Serve alone or over spaghetti or linguine.
Source unknown: could possibly be fixed up, but how the recipe writer
ever
was allowed to write a recipe for anything is totally amazing.
