subject: Any Ideas?

On 02 May 96, Bob Smith stated to All:
Hi Bob :)
BS>Not long ago I posted a message regarding a performance problem
BS>I was having with my 1996 Stratos 285 bass boat. (ventilates,
BS>exceeeding max RPM,can't trim out all the way, max speed of 55mph).
BS>It has all the indications of the motor being mounted to high.
BS>With this combination the boat should perform, but it still is
BS>running 10-15 mph slower than it should. Considering I have the
BS>factory recomended prop, and the height above the transom is
BS>correct, does anyone have any other ideas?
Yes, fiddle with the angle of the motor manually or auto trim
to the boat while at a dead stop.
Performance will suffer according to weight distributing around
the boat...if your by yourself, adjust to that.
Take a measurement on the centering of your motor.
Check that it's also seated to the transom evenly.
Is there any pitting or bent spots on the prop, file and
polish area's if so.
Factory recommendation may not suit your "feel" for the boat
when it comes to props, some are designed to "dog" in as soon
as you hit the throttle, some are gradual pitching to trim
speed. etc.
Well that's all I can think of for now.
