This could be good news.  It sounds like the studios want to
rewrite the entire contract.  This may be exploitation, alternatively
the New Media, like direct to DVD (or data crystal), must be
causing them a few problems.


Make sure residues continue whilst the film/play is in copyright.

Residue payments to start for material written over 10 years ago
when distributed by New Media.  (That may cause a few arguments.)

Authorise the studios to sell/hire out pictures to any New Media
and to pay the writers residues.

Authorise the studios to sell/hire out to television, radio,
theatres, DVD and material originally made for New Media upon
payment of residues.

Authorise the studios to sell/hire out material made for one
New Media to other New Media including new New Media upon
payment of residues.


Actors sometimes ask for soliloquies to be written for use in
conventions.  A clause allowing the studio to licence in-character
soliloquies on behave of the actors for a single lifetime
payment for live performances.  Residues for paid broadcasts
including DVD and New Media.  Actually using the clause would
have to be triggered by the actor's agent in a method agreed between
the studios and SAG.
