Yep, I've got a "RING" followed by "NO CARRIER" here, 12 seconds
after the ring.  Followed soon after by a connect with V42bis
at 9600.  If you gather some stats, you might want to see if
say forcing LAPM without compression helps any.  BFN.  Paul.
