That may well be.  It would be pretty easy to control based on that.
They may well send you a somewhat different magazine too because of
that.  Several magazine subscriptions I've got do that.  The shelf
version is sometimes substantially different then the subscription
version.  The subscription having special goodies or such that the shelf
version didn't.  So I could see the NRA doing that with their life
members.
