yep, he replaced the helmet soon after he had that accident...  the tread
came out pretty good...  you could even match it up to a similar tire... 
when i worked in a bike store people couldn't believe that a helmet was
only good for one use...  one pair were not going to buy the helmet until
a total stranger who happpenned to be shopping for a helmet pipped up and
mentioned that the more expencive motorcycle helmet was only good for one
use aswell...
