   In the case of Windows NT 4.0 upgraded to Windows 2000, it may be the =
domain controller that determines what happens.  Since roaming profiles =
are coordinated between the client and the DC.  I don't know which = leads.

   The only difference between Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000 that =
remains the Windows NT 4.0 location is the root of the user profile = tree.
 Everything within it is determined by the applications reading = and
writing the data.  You install a recent app on Windows NT 4.0 and it = will
place its non-roaming data in %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings.

    Settings which means it does not roam.  That is the key distinction

    the Local Settings tree and the rest of the profile directories.
