Hello, Phil. Recently, Jasen B. was recently playfully prodding you about - - JB> you could buy the tool :) PM> I know that! PM> I'm just being cranky and difficult. [g] Hee! Well, just read below and _quit it_! [;-D. Hard to tell these days with Telnet and all where folks are located. Do you have any Ace Hardware stores in your area? I had a few minutes to spare this afternoon on my way to a meeting, and on a lark, pulled in to one of the larger ACE Hardware stores in the Orlando, FL area. I asked about if they had any tamperproof torx bits. They did. BIR, under their store brand, and labeled under the alternate name - - as "Security TORX" bits. They had a number of different sizes, starting at least as small as T8, and I know I saw one as large as T35. The "Helpful Hardware Man" (per the jingle in their TV and Radio ads here) there at ACE encouraged me to bring in my appliance (Mr. Coffee machine, in my case) so we could pick the right size bit for my need. Prices started at USD $1.29 for the smaller sized bits. At that price point, I say that it isn't worth the trouble and frustration to fiddly-phart around with any of the alternate methods of getting those screws out of there. I'd just take my appliance down there, ask the salesperson to help me pick the right bit, and take them home and go to disassembling. Good luck - - - JimH. ... So easy, a child could do it. Child sold separately. --- MultiMail/MS-DOS v0.32* Origin: Try Our Web Based QWK: DOCSPLACE.ORG (1:123/140) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 123/140 500 106/2000 633/267 |
