One of the great things about named pipes is you don't HAVE to have a uniqe
name -- your Server can serve a distinct named pipe to each workstation
using the same name.  This is called a "multiple instance" pipe. 
 If you are still confused let me know,  I have a sample program kicking
around somewhere.

To answer your immediate question...do you get the devcon cdroms?  The lan
cdroms have the lan programmer's toolkit.  The API you are looking for is
(last I looked,  when I was using 16bit OS/2) is called NetWkstaGetInfo(),
with an info level=10.
