Hi Peter,

 * Peter Deane said this to Andrew Leniart on 26 Aug 96 08:57...

PD> A while back you were couting around for demos/archives of BBS

Yes, but it was commercial software only..

PD> But if it's not asking too much, do you have a list of the program

I ended up with Xenolink, MebbsNet, Racoon and one other that the name
slips my mind right now, however the comparative articles were never
written, partly on the request of some of the authors (they wanted me to
wait for an updated bug fixed versions due 'rsn' back then, and also
because promised software manuals (Mebbs for example) which were to be
sent to me never arrived, despite my spending a considerable amount of
time in calls, netmails etc to try and get everyone off their bums.

Other promised packages by authors never seemed to get here either. It
seems that none of them thought they needed the free advertising the
comparative article would have provided them. (Decent advertising space
in mag's costs heaps!)

PD> program archives (avail for Freq maybe)? I am interested in having a
PD> go at setting up various BBS packages myself now...

Unfortunately, due to the agreement I made with the authors when I
obtained the packages, I am morally obligated to neither lend, sell or
even give the software away to anyone, so I'm afraid I can't help in
that respect. Sorry mate.

If you're really interested, I'll see if I can dig up and netmail you
the notes I was making whilst fiddling with the various packages. They
should still be on my Amy Hard Disk somewhere, but they are only notes
which might make sense to me, but may not make a heap of sense to you.
:-) Also bear in mind that the versions I have here are prob
considerably outdated by now. Let us know..

Regards,

Andrew
