Whew. Clean Dave, our former moderator, used to
tell the story of how he'd go to a friend's for
Thanksgiving, and the patriarch, before partaking
of the festive meal, would put a plain boiled
swede on his plate and take a bite of it, sigh,
then mash the rest of it with salt and butter.
He'd say, it tastes so good with salt and butter.
Dave told it better than I could, but the upshot
was that when he was a POW in a German camp plain
boiled rutabagas were the only daily food, and 
he'd seen many of his friends and comrades starve
to death on that regimen.

Thing down here is that you can be all the 
convincing you want, and the health people,
who are now in a particularly jumpy mood, 
still may call social services on you.

Speaking of useless inventions -

Face mask
categories: California, edible, cosmetic, not eaten, not really practical
servings: 1

3 Tb raw unpasteurized honey
2 Tb ground raw oatmeal
2 Tb pure coconut oil

Mix all ingredients, adjusting ingredients as needed to
make a creamy paste. Apply to clean, dry skin with hands 
or a brush, avoiding the eyes. Leave on for 15 to 20 min.
Before using, patch test for allergic reaction by putting
a little on the inside of your arm and waiting 1 to 24 hr
and then checking for redness or rash.
