When did they travel from one side of the galaxy to the other in one
episode? They crossed the galactic barrier a few times but this doesn't
mean they started on the other side in that episode. In some cases, the
ship is under some alien or special power enabling it to travel faster.
Also episodes take place in different time intervals. For example, the
events of "The Paradise Syndrome" took place over a period of two
months.
