Hi, Dallas! Recently you wrote in a message to Eric Wold:
EW> Think "Type 1, Type 1" :-))))
DH> Why? The article clearly says Type 2?
Precisely. I imagine Eric might like to know what effect(s) cinnamon
has on type 1... but the summary you found doesn't mention type 1. It is
difficult to be sure what this omission signifies. One possibility is that
somebody made the connection between cinnamon & blood counts while
doing a clinical study on, for example, hospital patients who were thought
to be at risk for heart attacks or something. The levels of cholesterol,
triglycerides, and blood sugar can be controlled to some extent by diet...
and exercise can have an influence on such things as well. For a lot of
people certain lifestyle changes may be about all that's required. If the
goal of the study was to find out who could do without medication &
which strategies would benefit them most, however, people who were
obviously in need of cholesterol-lowering drugs or insulin would be
excluded... and with no data, the researchers can't say whether or not
cinnamon helps them.
So near & yet so far! While it may be frustrating I attach more
credence to sound bites like this when I see such fine distinctions being
made.... :-))
