On 01-21-98, NICHOLAS COAD said to MALTE WEBER:
NC>I ran it for a couple of weeks, until pay-day. Now it's running on a
NC>486dx4/100, 40megs and 4.3gig HD. Naturally I re-installed, but
NC>everything is hunky-dory now. It was slow at first though. Now it seems
NC>to run very decently.
It's also part perception. I upgraded from a system much like yours
486-100,
40MB RAM but full SCSI) to a PII-300, 64MB, full Ultra-wide SCSI a couple of
months ago. The difference was startling but now seems slower (not
slow, just not as fast), probably due to my getting used to the speed.
Now, I just need the prices of the PI CPUs to come down so a second processor
can be added. Of course, that will seem slow after a while, too... 8^)
