I have a Kantara GT. Purchased to have a half-breed semi-off-road bike to
use with my kids.
Long story, but used to have a Schwin LeTour - 1980, purchased in 1981 new.
I was new to biking at time, frame was about 2 inches too big for me (or was
that tire size?). Anyway, after many, many faithful touring years and miles,
needed to trade it in, since I was getting older (Now 40) and frame was just
too big a stretch. Though loved the original GRAB-ON cushions that still
showed NO sign of wear after 15 years!!!
Now that I am starting to get back into road trips, can NOT afford another
bike for touring, AND Kantara is uncomfortable. Aside from putting skinnier
road tires on rims, which is possible I understand.
What can I do about straight across handle bars (miss wrap-arounds on raod
rides, terribly) and the length from seat to handle bars is same as schwin
LeTour was for me, which is correct for off-road riding but NOT road riding.?
And the seat could probably be changed back to the leather skinny riding seat
I kept from LeTour, but the current seat's angle is back and not forward like
I need for road rides?
Any suggestions? What about handle bar extensions I've seen?
Please help?
