TC>chould dig into the wood and find the termite. He tried and tried but
TC>could not come up with any. Then he looked under the home for 3 seconds
TC>in two places and told me I had sub-terrainian termites. All this could
TC>be taken care of for about $3000. Maybe it's me but I want a little more
TC>proof then that. Personally I trust very few of those termite inspection
TC>places.
It's those little suckers who commute to your timbers daily that do
a great deal of damage, Todd. I'd call for a backup opinion right
smartly, before the sounds of nocturnal chewing bring the house down
about my ears.
If your wood is very dry, then those mud tunnels from ground level up
are the only way the termites get sufficient moisture. If you have no
tunnels, or damp runways (which should be visible) on blocks, posts
or whatever you use for foundation, then, and only then, would I slow
down in my mad dash to phone the exterminators. :-)
