As someone who came very close to raising policy complaints against
sysops for violating the date format (the number specified as " 2"
instead of "02"), the last thing I need is stuff coming from my
system that is also out-of-spec.

Also next time you decide you don't want mail from my system, can 
you just do this very simple thing:

1. Send a message to areafix requesting all echos to be deselected.
2. Wait 24 hours for areafix to process your message.
3. Call again to pick up any remaining mail.
