Hello, Wayne.
I overheard you talking with Charles A. about - -
CA> If you have W31 on one machine and W9x or newer on the other
CA> machine you can use a laplink null parallel cable with "Total
CA> Commander" to transfer files quite rapidly via FTP between the
CA> machines. It's what I use here on my machines. :-)
WC> I need to snag that cable.
WC> I've got both the other cables but not a 9 pin - 9 pin serial
WC> cable.
I have Laplink cables. I only use the parallel cable (yellow), because
it is faster. Parallel data transfer cables can be had for about $5,
but I do have the Laplink Serial cable (blue) which is not being used,
and you can have it for the price of the stamps. If you're interested,
send an email - - jim.holsonback{at}juno.com
The Laplink Serial cable has both DB9 and DB25 pin female connectors on
each end.
I've never used the laplink software - - when I use the parallel cable
it is generally with bootable diskettes and the DOS Interlnk and
Intersvr programs. These work with 32-bit W95 long filenames and etc,
if you use the right version, and Xcopy32.
I see Roy J.T. posted wiring for data transfer cables. Basically,
these data transfer cables are just a crossover setup, where output
from one end goes to input on the other, and vice-versa.
FWIW, I also have some other stuff here which I need to get rid of,
some free for the price of postage, and others which I had to buy, and
they will be at bargain prices. I'm thinking of running a post in the
Fidonet 4Sale echo, and I'll fill you in on what's available if you
send the above email.

... "Bother!" said Pooh, as his 'puter started acting flakey as Wheaties.
