My version of VP has had a minor change to the writeln routine which may
affect it's size (but only VERY slightly).

Both compiled as text mode apps...

code =

Program Hello;
begin
writeln('Hello World');
end.

VP beta 3
---------
size = 3620 - no DDL's need be included
Average run time = .51 seconds
note.. text output is 16 bit (as per the OS/2 API)

SP gamma 1.5
------------
size = 28160 - must distribute a 27346 byte DDL for text mode apps
       for a total of 55506 bytes for a text mode app
       (note that the DLL is not required for PM apps)
average run time = .59 seconds
note.. text output is 32 bit (due to the use of their DLL)

VP is smaller and faster in this case, despite the 16 bit text code. Your
mileage may vary. (For what it's worth, I honestly don't think it's worth the
trouble to use 32 bit TEXT code if it requires distributing another dll).
Another serious consideration is the price of the finished product. SP is
considerably cheaper than VP in Contnental North America (and I'm sure
elsewhere as well, although I don't know for sure)
