I rang up my Yum Cha mate today, and he told me why he thinks
the RAM prices have dropped (he says the dealers are running
scared, the price has dropped too fast).
Anyway, the story is that EDO ram will be standard in about
June/July, and that in October, DIMMs will be standard instead
of SIMMs. The D standard for Double, compared to S for Single.
And he doesn't have a motherboard that will support that yet.
And so we go through the RAM size changover YET AGAIN. He says
that the DIMMs are twice as fast. He said that he wasn't dead
sure that the story was correct though, he didn't have any
confirmation.
How come no-one mentioned DIMMs before? Not even in "Computer
Market"'s "RAM Expose". BFN. Paul.
