Sorry I'm so long answering this. It's spring in Florida and I've
been busy trying to get the garden planted, got tomatoes,
peppers, eggplant, squash, and cantalope in so far. Still have
some kale and onions from my winter garden. I also planted a
small asparagus bed, but don't expect to see any good results on
that. I also want to try the New Zealand spinach this spring.
Anyway since I've been working outside so much I haven't done too
much replying to msgs.
SP> I finally got to the Falls. After an enjoyable time in the Parks
SP> greenhouse viewing the gorgeous flowers, the humming birds and
SP> the whydahs, we set off to find the Niagara Parks Botanical
SP> Gardens Conservatory, where 2000 butterflies flit around gawking at
SP> the gawkers. :-)
I'm so glad you got to go to Niagara Falls, It sounds wonderful.
I guess it's a full fledge theme park now by the sounds of
things. I hope one day I can visit again. As I said before it
was probably the early '60's when I was last there. I was
looking at some pictures of the Falls in my encylopedias and
notice there are several tall towers for viewing I guess.
SP> We went further than we've ever gone before, and pulled off at the
SP> Spanish Aero-car ride (closed for the winter.) There it was, the
SP> famous cable car that I didn't even know existed. :-)
SP> As I peered over the restaining wall, I heard a noise like 1000
SP> toilets flushing...and then I saw the famous Whirlpool Rapids,
SP> which I hadn't known existed. :-)
Oh you finally saw the cable car and the rapids, good! The
whirlpool is more famous I guess, I don't hear of the Rapids very
often. Refresh my memory, how far are the rapids and the
whirlpool from the falls? I was just a kid when I saw those so I
have a pretty fuzzy memory on that. :)
Thanks for sharing your visit with me. I enjoyed reading about
it, and hope some day I can see all those gardens and
butterflies etc.
Marilyn
SP> From there, I could barely see the promontory where I had stood on
SP> the US side and looked down at the whirlpool, which I DID know
SP> existed! Yesterday the Whirlpool was not as obviously
SP> circular, as the force of high spring water created many little
SP> eddies around the main turbulence.
SP> And then we finally got to see the butterflies. What a gorgeous
SP> end to a glorious day! It was a slightly belated 37th wedding
SP> anniversary.. and all I wanted to do was rush back to my
SP> non-functional computer and share it with you. Well, today my
SP> computer was restored; so here I am, burbling merrily on. :-)
SP> ...Sandra...
SP> PS. We turned back then, but had we continued, we would have seen
SP> the giant floral clock further along. I guess all those things
SP> still exist.
