I work here, I'd liek to think I know what goes on here.   Doom wasn't the 
only
game we took a stab at.  We also took the exact same shot at Dark Forces, and
oh crap, I can't remember what the jab in Episode 3 was.  Bryan?  Lee?
Your assumption that it was all "Doom" related is incorrect.
