Usually you can download the 500K (ish) setup file from MS, then start the
install and select one of the custom options that allows you to download it
and install it later.  The problem is that this only works in Win9x and (I
think) NT4.  Win2k and XP won;t let you save the files for later (why????)
so if you run the setup from one of those PC's you're a bit screwed.
