Bob, at 13:30 on May 09 1996, you wrote to Bill Grimsley...

BL> RU SIRIUS about these figures?

BG> Absolutely. I've never been more serious in my life.

BL> I thought you must have slipped a decimal somewhere. Four FEET?

Yeah, the mind boggles a bit, doesn't it? It's actually quite hard to
imagine the unique weather conditions which allowed that much rain to fall
over what was really quite a relatively long period when you think about it
(7 days).

BL> FOUR feet? How could a rain gauge show that much... it'd overflow.

BG> The inner cylinder sure did, even though I emptied it each day at around
BG> 0800, but the outer container is capable of holding around 14",

BL> I apologise. I didn't believe you;

Actually, it's quite easy to verify my figures with the weather bureau, but
your apology is accepted (sort of). :)

BL> it just didn't register with me how much rain was falling up there. Bloody
BL> hell!

Bloody hell indeed.

Regards, Bill
