-> thanks Del for the tidbit on helmets. Don't wory though you were tired,
your
-> message came out loud and clear. I'd love to see that helmet with the
thread
-> going over it. I hope that your friend replaced his helmetsince after
impact
-> the helmet is of no use. One impact is all that the helmet was constructed
for.

No doubt. I have broken two helmets. One was on the road. Another was on
an exposed root. Cracked the first one, DEMOLISHED the second one. My
doctor was amazed that my melon didn't suffer any damage. I won't even
ride casually without one. One of my buds used the lame "I can't afford
one" excuse. Guess what? I could. So I bought him one. Made him feel
like crap. I don't care. He wears it, that's all that matters.

Here in West Allis, S.E. suburb of Milwaukee, the police dept. has
several "doings" such as a bike rodeos and the national night out, at
which they set up a booth and encourage one to register (license) your
bicycle. Our license is good for as long as you own it, and they then
provide you with a free helmet. Of course it's not a Bell Pro, but
it IS micro shell, comes in either black or white, and is Snell and ANSI
approved. Maybe you should send your friend here?

That was a good gesture on your part buying your friend a helmet. It also
must have made him laugh since he had to eat his words. even though I've been
in countless accidents I still find it difficult to wear a helmet. I have
nothing against others wearing a helmet and I would never make a crack to
someone wearing one that it is superflous. then again those not wearing one
does not bother me neither. I do wear one when i get together for the group
ride on weekends. there is too much bolting around and the chances of going
down is greater. When I get together with my two close friends or when alone
I tend to go without one.
