A lot of people agree with you. WP 6.1 is considered by many to
be the best version. Others, like me, prefer 5.1, which retained
the clean screen, and could do anything if you were willing to
get "down and dirty" with printer drivers, the Advance command
(on shift-F8, O, A), the Printer command (shift-F8, O, P) and a
few other obscure commands.
Anyone who thinks you can't do DTP with 5.1 Might want to look at
a few old books by Parker, Will-Harris, or Mansfield. Once you
learn this stuff, you see little need to "upgrade."
