Enough arguing!!! So lets talk about some real audio. It's
widely known that running amplifiers below certain load levels (usually
4 ohms), the amplifier has less and less control over the speaker
movement, causing distortion. This is mostly seen in groups of subs
wired in parallel, down to an ohm or so. Now what about electrostatic
speakers? It's not unusual too see them running at .67ohms or so. Now,
I don't really know a lot about electrostatics, but can the amplifiers
still maintain that precise control over the speakers at that low of a
load?
btw- Bonnie, feel free to jump in and give us an opinion on a REAL audio
question!
Also, I'm off to college in less than a month, and I've been
debating what's better in a dorm room. The Seinheisser (I can never
spell) HD 580's are a sweet pair of headphones, but when I read the
review in Audio (or was it Stereo Review?) about the NHT SuperOne
speakers, I started drooling. Of course, I really would need a good amp
for the SuperOnes, but they would be nice. Any suggestions?
