Hello LADY!!
Long time no hear from. It's partly my fault, I've been so very busy.
I wrote a note here in this base about a month ago, but was never answered,
so maybe you could help. PLEASE!!
My seven year old son, who is(most of the time) a wonderful child. Decided
that he did not like being punished, and when I would go to disipline him
(AND NO I do not beat my children nor do I use excessive force ) will fight
me. He hits me, and calls me names, and threatens to run away. He also
has taken to blamming me for his fathers leaving and not wanting to see him.
Perhaps it is my fault that my soon to be ex, did not want me and the kids.
I wasn't exactly an ideal wife after a lot of hurt and physical beating he
did to me.
I got to the point when he was sick a couple of months ago, and I took him
to his doctor. I told the DR what he was doing. And the man said I should
use a belt!!!! He also gave me some very good books to read, and talked to
my son, whos is named Franklin. It's hard for me to just reffer to him as my
son, he is a person, and he has a name. So if you don't mind, I'll use his
name. (Boy, that didn't sound right did it?? g)
Well, since the visit he's gotten worse and worse. I thought maybe it was
because I was in school, and now and in training classes that are six weeks
long at a time, and there are three of them I need to take. The hours are
long. sigh...And I keep trying not to feel guilty for wanting a better life
for my kids. (remember, I have four of them!) Well, I also thought it had
something to do with his sisters. The oldest is haveing yet another surgery
on her hip, that is major, and very scarey for all of us, and the second is
had a lot of trouble in school. She's been suspended three times this year.
I just don't know where to turn. I went to his teacher, and she had me sign
papers allowing the school to test Franklin and see where his `problem' is.
Well, the teacher said that all his tests came back in the pre-school level.
And the school phyc (or whatever you call her, shrink maybe?) said she really
thought he was ADHD. WHat the heck is that!!! ????
Can you direct me where to turn? Can you tell me what ADHD is REALLY?
I really hope so. I'm pretty new to the area here in TN, and I just don't
know how to help him. He can't spell his name, he has forgotten how to add,
and he just can not do first grade work. I even agreed for them to allow
him the mornings in the kidnergarden class, and Franky is twice as big as
those kids. But he hasn't complained. And he spends the rest of the day
with his first grade class.
He didn't have a full year of kindergarden. He had been living with his
just before we move here to Tenn. And I had him in kindergarden when he went
to stay with the man. But he was (the father) to lazy to put him in school.
I didn't know this till I got him back, four months later. When he got here,
the school would touch him, they said he had to go to transition. When we
moved to another school district they said he needed to be in first grade,
and wouldn't let him go to kindergarde, which I thought he needed to go to.
So, he was put in a class he didn't understand.
Could this had made things harder for him? I'm sorry to lay all this on you.
But I saw you here, and I am so despreate, I just don't know what to do.
I have had black eyes, bumps and brusies, and all from my son recently.
