Ouch! I figured as much .. after that storm that ran through Sydney and
suddenly your modem acting up, I thought it was too much of a coincidence.
:-( First no answer, then 2,400bps, then 1,200bps, then engaged .. geez,
what a *terrible* mess. Then to see this:

# 21 Jan 22:38:49 BINK Connect 26400/Lap-M/V.42Bis/V.34

Talk about a surprise! ;-) (Thanks to PM for helping PE fix things up.)

(BTW Paul, the 2,400bps connection that seemed to be working then dropped
out was because I stopped it.)

If there's no other choice, then there's no other choice.

That's "normal" for V.34 (wierd sounds); obviously in this case,
they were the *wrong* wierd sounds. ;-)

PE> 3. I decided to set the baud rate to 19200 in Binkley rather than 38400

Any particular reason? 38,400bps works fine here.

Could this be due to you limiting the speed on the serial port? I know
with the M34F if you lock the port at 19,200bps, that'll be the fastest the
modem will connect with (ie., it'll detect the port speed and not connect
at between 19.2Kbps and 28.8Kbps).

Otherwise, everything seems fine...
